Simulation of a Downdraft Gasifier for Production of Syngas from Different Biomass Feedstocks

In the evaluation of gasification processes, estimating composition fuel gas for different conditions is fundamental to identify best operating conditions. this way, modeling and simulation provide an analysis process performance, allowing resource time savings in pilot-scale operation, as it predicts behavior analyzes effects variables on process. Thus, focus work was biomass processes using UniSim Design chemical software, order satisfactorily reproduce operation a downdraft gasifier. The study performed two residual biomasses (forest agricultural) predict produced syngas composition. reactors simulated by minimizing free energy Gibbs. main parameters considered were equivalence ratio (ER), steam (SBR), temperature (independent variables). simulations, sensitivity carried out, where these syngas, flow heating value (dependent variables) studied, maximize three with choice operation. model able performance gasifier qualified analyze independent results. With between 850 950 °C, SBR up 0.2, ER 0.3 0.5, are obtained maximizing CO H2.
